Properties:

With the melting point of 210-215℃, Theanine is an amino acid commonly found in tea, and also in the basidiomycete mushroom. Theanine is related to glutamine, and can cross the blood-brain barrier. Because Theanine can enter the brain, Theanine has psychoactive properties. Theanine has been shown to reduce mental and physical stress, When taken in combination with caffeine, Theanine may produce feelings of relaxation and improves cognition and mood. Theanine is speculated to produce these effects by increasing the level of Gamma-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) production. Theanine increases brain serotonin, dopamine, GABA levels and has micromolar affinities for AMPA, Kainate and NMDA receptors. Theanine has also been found that injecting spontaneously hypertensive mice with Theanine significantly lowered levels of 5-Hydroxyindoles in the brain. Researchers also speculate that it may inhibit Glutamic Acid excitotoxicity. Theanine also promotes alpha wave production in the brain. L-Theanine may help the body's immune response to infection by boosting the disease-fighting capacity of gamma delta T cells .

Usage:

Theanine can be added to food as a sedative. L-Theanine is soluble in water, then can be widely used in beverages, baked snacks, frozen snacks and other foods. L-theanine can be used as green tea flavor improver, but also can inhibit other foods bitter and spicy, to achieve the purpose of improving the flavor of food.
